Lead Paint

Many common renovation activities such as sanding, cutting, scraping, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint. Exposure to lead dust and debris is harmful to adults and children. Young children are especially susceptible to the hazards of lead as their brains are still developing. Sadly thousands of children are still poisoning every year due to renovation activity and the steps to prevent it are relatively simple and easy to take.

If you are a contractor (most trades are affected by this rule, not just painters) and work on pre-1978 homes and other child occupied facilities you will need to take a lead RRP course from an EPA approved training provider.

Since 1991, RPF Environmental (formerly RPF Associates), Inc. (RPF), has been providing testing and training services across New England. Specializing in asbestos, lead paint, mold, indoor air quality, PCBs, chemical safety, and other hazardous materials RPF has been providing lead in construction training for nearly 20 years and we now also provide lead safety training for the Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

We have already trained over a thousand contractors throughout New England. Our trainers are not just classroom teachers, they are experienced in the trades and construction processes that impact lead paint.
